About Us
Natanel (Nir) Saar, R.Ac, NLP Master Practitioner

I believe that effective healing happens when acupuncture treatment is as gentle as it is effective.

With over 17 years of clinical experience, I specialize in a constitutional approach to acupuncture. By combining precise assessment with ultra-fine needles, I help calm an overworked nervous system while addressing the underlying causes of pain and structural conditions.

I use constitutional acupuncture to balance the body's internal organ systems, creating a grounded physical foundation that supports the body's natural ability to heal.

For clients seeking support beyond physical symptoms, I offer an integrated approach that combines acupuncture with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

This allows me to address both the physical and emotional aspects of healing.

I provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can gently process emotional experiences, reframe limiting patterns, resolve long-standing emotional triggers, and develop greater resilience and balance..

Insomnia

Insomnia is rarely an isolated symptom. It often reflects underlying physical, emotional, or nervous system imbalances. Effective treatment requires understanding the root causes while supporting the body's natural ability to restore healthy sleep patterns.

Common Causes of Insomnia
  • Chronic Pain: Conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, back pain, and neuropathy can make sleep difficult and cause frequent waking.

  • Hormonal Imbalances: Thyroid issues, menopause, hot flashes, and night sweats can disrupt sleep cycles.

  • Neurological Conditions: Restless Legs Syndrome and movement disorders can interfere with falling and staying asleep.

  • Stress, Anxiety & Trauma: Anxiety, depression, and PTSD can create nervous system hyperarousal that prevents restful sleep.

  • Digestive & Respiratory Issues: Conditions such as reflux, asthma, COPD, and sleep apnea can interrupt sleep quality.

How Acupuncture Supports Sleep

Acupuncture helps regulate the nervous system and restore balance by:

Calming the Nervous System
Encouraging a shift from a stress response ("fight or flight") toward a relaxed state ("rest and digest"), reducing tension and hyperarousal.

Supporting Sleep Regulation
Acupuncture may influence the body's natural regulation of melatonin, cortisol, serotonin, and GABA—key systems involved in relaxation and healthy sleep patterns.

Reducing Pain and Physical Discomfort
By supporting the body's natural pain-relieving mechanisms, acupuncture can help reduce physical symptoms that interfere with sleep.

Balancing the Body’s Systems (TCM Perspective)
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, insomnia may involve imbalances affecting the Heart, Kidney, Liver, and Shen (mind/spirit). Acupuncture uses individualized point selection to restore harmony and support restful sleep.

By addressing both the nervous system and deeper patterns of imbalance, acupuncture can support a more peaceful and restorative sleep experience.

Treatment Approach

Traditional Chinese Medicine Insomnia Patterns

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), sleep relies on the Shen (Mind/Spirit) residing calmly in the Heart at night, anchored by adequate Blood and Yin. Insomnia occurs when either Excess Heat/Fire agitates the Shen, or Deficiency of Blood/Yin fails to nourish and anchor it.

TCM pattern differentiation categorizes insomnia into distinct syndromes, broadly split between Deficiency and Excess patterns.

1. Deficiency Patterns (Insufficient Nourishment)

Deficiency patterns typically manifest as trouble staying asleep, vivid or light dreaming, and systemic exhaustion.

  • Heart and Spleen Deficiency

  • Heart and Kidney Disharmony

  • Heart Qi and Gallbladder Timidity

2. Excess Patterns (Pathogenic Heat or Stagnation)

Excess patterns are marked by hyperarousal, irritability, physical heat, and difficulty falling asleep due to an agitated mind.

  • Liver Fire Blazing

  • Phlegm-Heat Agitating the Interior

Insomnia: Mental Health perspective
Insomnia & Mental Health

Insomnia and mental health are closely connected. Emotional distress can disrupt sleep, while poor sleep can intensify anxiety, depression, and stress. Common factors include nervous system hyperarousal, racing thoughts, and emotional overwhelm.

Mental Health Conditions Linked to Insomnia

Anxiety Disorders
Worry, tension, and an overactive stress response can make it difficult to relax into sleep. Panic attacks, fears, and nighttime rumination can also interrupt rest.

Mood Disorders
Depression may contribute to difficulty falling asleep, waking too early, or disrupted sleep patterns. Bipolar disorder can involve reduced need for sleep during elevated states and insomnia during depressive periods.

Trauma & Stress-Related Disorders
PTSD, grief, and major life stressors can keep the nervous system in a heightened state of alert, contributing to nightmares, flashbacks, and frequent waking.

NLP & Trauma-Informed Support for Insomnia

Using NLP and Guided Imagery, we explore the emotional and subconscious patterns that may contribute to sleep difficulties.

This may include:

  • Identifying events, stressors, or patterns connected to insomnia

  • Reframing unresolved emotional experiences that keep the nervous system activated

  • Supporting trauma healing and reducing the impact of PTSD symptoms, flashbacks, or distressing dreams

  • Addressing current worries, racing thoughts, and emotional stress

  • Strengthening emotional regulation and creating a calmer internal state

By addressing both the nervous system and emotional roots of insomnia, we support the body’s ability to return to a more balanced and restful state.
